TRE S1-100 Kure Pet Food
Good morning, afternoon, evening wherever you are in the world right now, this is Amrys Wang of The Raw Entrepawneur!
Today’s episode is a very special episode for me personally. It’s the 100th episode of my pawdcast. I would like to thank every one who made the time to speak to me and help me become a better caregiver for my animals. I am deeply humbled and grateful for the opportunity to speak to 3 of the bravest, most ethical people I have ever met who are willing to stand up to injustice and fight for the right to produce clean food for our animals – Roxanne Stone and Jacqueline Hill of Trinity Clean Foods and Steve Fisher of Kure Pet Food.
This is their story.
About Steve Fisher:
“Twenty years ago my family started bottling raw milk in eastern Pennsylvania, for raw milk health food stores. We decided on three priorities, all grass fed, glass bottles, and brown Swiss cows. Ten years ago we were at a crossroads of milking goats for Jacqueline and Roxanne. It was a good decision since raw milk is becoming popular. The family farm is Rocky Ridge Goat Dairy and produces raw goat milk for pet food retailers in 48 states.
In your care Steve Fisher.”
About Jacqueline Hill:
Jacqueline attended Iowa State University and majored in Microbiology. During her 15 years as a practicing veterinary technician, she studied many of the holistic/alternative modalities with an emphasis in nutrition.
For 12 years, Jacqueline owned and managed Valley Hill Stables, a horse boarding facility. Jacqueline coordinated a natural food co-op in Pennsylvania for 5 years. She is a member of The Weston A. Price Organization, The Organic Consumer Association, and The Farm to Consumer Legal Defense Fund. Hired in 2004 by one of the largest raw pet food manufacturers in the nation, Jacqueline served as the Northeast Territory Manager until her promotion to Eastern Regional Manager in 2005. In 2007, she was also appointed as leader of the company’s Veterinary Task Force. She has been a raw pet food feeder for 20+ years.
Jacqueline along with her family founded Answers Pet Food in 2009 and helped grow it for 12 years. Due to the family having different directions for Answers Pet Food, Jacqueline left and started a pet food industry consulting business with her sister Roxanne Stone, called Trinity Clean Foods in July 2021.
About Roxanne Stone:
Roxanne earned her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in Nutrition and Food Science with a minor in chemistry from Utah State University. She worked in the human food industry for 12 years before becoming disenchanted with the conventional practices of the corporate food industry and the use of confinement animal feeding operations. Her desire to contribute to organic and sustainable agricultural led her to leave the corporate food industry in 2004 and later start Cascadia Food Consulting, an independent food and nutrition consulting company.
As a consultant, Roxanne could better support the growth of biodynamic, organic and regenerative small family farms along with traditional agricultural practices based on pasture centered livestock. Roxanne made the transition from the human food industry to pet food when her sister Jacqueline asked her to consult for the family’s newly founded pet food company, Answers Pet Food and she quickly became an investor and full-time member of the company. Roxanne was responsible for all product formulations and ingredient sourcing as well as overseeing manufacturing, research and quality assurance. To further the acceptance of raw pet food within the regulatory arena, Roxanne regularly attended the biannual AAFCO meetings, to provide representation for the raw pet food category.
Roxanne is a member of the Animal Welfare Institute as well as the Weston A. Price Foundation and Farm to Consumer Legal Defense Fund, which are dedicated to restoring nutrient-dense foods to the American diet through education, research and activism. Roxanne resides in Eugene, OR with her husband and two Alaskan Malamutes, Ame and Tsuki where they enjoy hiking and skiing in their local mountains.
